Exploring lipsync as an art form and expression!
Performance powerhouse and micro theatre innovator, Rubyyy Jones, returns to Warehouse9 online, with a digital deep dive into lipsync and giving lip service! This will be a fun and fresh experience which requires no previous performance experience, but does require the willingness to learn, try and push! Assisted by queer artist and theatre maker, Prinx Lydia, Rubyyy will be leading this small group through various exercises and exertions in the art of lipsync and digital performance creativity. Through skill building workshops, research activities, 1:1 sessions and group exercises, we will developing mini solo lipsync acts on the theme "YOU VS YOUR CITYYY", culminating in a bold and brilliant sharing showcase. As well as exploring the art of lipsync and creating acts, we will engage with textiles and mixed media to create sets for our showcase, and also to play with costume, styling and makeup. Participants in the course can expect a playful, challenging and intense experience, and to have the opportunity to explore deeper the possibilities of lipsync as a medium but also as a tool for political and personal expression.
The workshop will be delivered in English online via Zoom. Closed captions via Otter.ai will be provided.
Other access requirements can be arranged upon request when booking.
