The South East Asia [SEA] Group of the International Forum, in cooperation with the Danish revolutionary socialist group »Gnisten« [»The Spark«], would like to welcome everybody, who supports the right to rebel and struggle for freedom and justice, to a presentation on the ongoing revolution in the Philippines. The presentation will be held on the 8th of July at 14:00 in the International Forum shop at Griffenfeldsgade 41 in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen. The presentation will be in English, and will feature two speakers: (1) a Danish socialist, who will talk about Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, the revolutionary ideology guiding the Philippine revolution and other ongoing revolutions today, and (2) a Philippine activist, who will talk about how this ideology is being unified with the real-world practice of the Philippine revolution. There will also be time for questions and answers.

The Philippine revolution is one of the longest currently running rebellions, having begun in 1969 under the rule of fascist dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The revolution has the Communist Party of the Philippines at its core, which leads a revolution on two fronts: in the countryside, the revolution is a people's war against the state, and in the cities, the revolution is an enormous national-democratic activist movement. The revolution targets imperialism, semi-feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism, and aims to replace these with genuine national democracy, and eventually socialism. The struggle is especially sharp today, as the Philippines are ruled by the USA-backed fascist dictator Rodrigo Duterte, who is committing genocide in the country. Currently, people's power has been established as an alternative to the fascist state in roughly 1/4 of the country.

The Communist Party of the Philippines, the revolutionary core of the national-democratic movement, is guided by Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. This ideology is made of the revolutionary experiences of the working class in all countries, and is essentially a guide to action for revolutionaries, who want to struggle for freedom and justice. It has helped shape the Philippine revolution into what it is today, and also guides revolutionary movements in India, Turkey, Bangladesh and elsewhere — and it can also be used in Denmark, as we will hear.

We look forward to seeing you at the presentation.
